ProposedFederal Communications Commission

Petition seeks reconsideration of a Federal Communications Commission action

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has a petition for reconsideration filed in one of its rulemaking proceedings. Harold Feld filed the petition on behalf of Public Knowledge and others. The abstract does not say which action the petition challenges or what it asks the FCC to do, and the item is listed as proposed, so it is not a final rule.

Final rule sets clearer ways for consumers to revoke robocall consent

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued a final rule, effective November 25, 2026, that changes how consumers can revoke consent to robocalls. It lets callers treat a revocation request as applying only to the specific category of informational robocalls it was directed at, and lets them designate one exclusive means for consumers to revoke consent. It also amends the consent exemption for financial institutions so they can more easily alert customers to fraudulent activity, and delegates review of the robocall rules for clarity to the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau (CGB).

Proposed update to lamp standard for vehicles with automated driving systems

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the Transportation Department proposes to update Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, which covers lamps, reflective devices and associated equipment. The changes would remove requirements the agency calls unnecessary and amend the test voltage for integral beam headlamps. For vehicles with Automated Driving Systems (ADS) and no manually operated driving controls, the proposal would limit certain turn signal, hazard warning and beam switching requirements and would allow cyan-colored ADS marker lamps as optional equipment.

Temporary rule reallocates unused Pacific cod in Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has issued a temporary rule, in effect from October 26, 2026, that reallocates projected unused Pacific cod from catcher vessels using trawl gear to catcher vessels under 60 feet (18.3 meters) length overall that use hook-and-line or pot gear, and to American Fisheries Act trawl catcher/processors. The action covers the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area. It is needed so the 2026 total allowable catch of Pacific cod in that area can be harvested.
